Northrop Grumman Space Technology is undergoing a multi-year modernization effort to renovate 14 buildings at the Space Park campus, originally designed in the 1960’s as a college style environment with grassy areas and office space that avoided the look of aircraft hangar-like buildings cramped with workers. The idea at Space Park was to create a place that would attract the best and brightest in the industry. That setting has been maintained and the next evolutionary step is causing that cultural aesthetic to continue.
Neighborhoods of open office workstations stretch across the building where offices once stood. This allows for enhanced interaction between employees and greater density of workers without sacrificing comfort. Each floor is divided into four quadrants to match form with function. Each quadrant has a “park”, a partially walled-off area where a casual conversation can transform into a brainstorming session without disturbing others in nearby cubicles. Employees can write on the park walls and access the Internet through Wi-Fi. |
