The Austin Company provided services for a 25,000 SF expansion project for Lancaster County Weeklies. This project was an expansion to the existing newsprint storage, pressroom, packaging and distribution production facility and resulted in a total building of over 62,000 SF. The existing building encompassed the entire original site for the facility, so the adjacent property was purchased and the existing building on the purchased property was demolished to make space for the new expansion.
The expansion project increased the efficiency of product flow within the facility, as well as improved the production equipment and facility layout. The developed scheme provides for new newsprint storage of approximately 800 rolls and a new pressroom sized for a new single width press (Model DGM 440) with side fed reels. The Dauphin-Graphics press has the following configuration: five four high print towers and two folders with space allowed for a sixth tower. The packaging and distribution center is sized for a single inserter (Kansa 760) and a stitcher-trimmer. |
