The expansion and modernization of the Tribune’s operations in downtown South Bend took place in two phases. The first phase consisted of a 25,000 SF expansion of the newspaper’s existing building. The ground floor of the addition houses distribution operations, while offices are located on the second floor. The second phase of the project included a separate 43,000 SF press building and newsprint warehouse. The new press building is linked to the mailroom-office addition by a second-floor bridge, which contains production offices. The Austin Company provided design, engineering and construction services for the project.
