The Buffalo News

When The Buffalo News decided to upgrade to KBA Colora offset presses, it called on The Austin Company to re-design and re-construct its pressroom support facilities and implement a major facility upgrade. The News chose to remain in downtown Buffalo, its home for 120 years. Remaining at its existing location with limited space presented several operational challenges.

The Austin Company conducted an extensive planning study, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of several pressroom configurations in a limited space. The optimal solution required a complex and carefully scheduled program including: decommissioning a press while others remained in operation; constructing a temporary wall to separate existing operating presses from the future pressroom; reconfiguring the future press area; and seamlessly transitioning printing operations to the new Coloras.
