Florida’s largest newspaper undertook a multimillion-dollar upgrade of its 33-year-old production and office facility in downtown Miami. Intense competition and ever-changing readership demographics were the driving factors for the modernization of The Miami Herald. At the heart of the program was the replacement of The Herald’s original letterpress printing equipment with state-of-the-art offset presses.
The Herald commissioned The Austin Company to perform a feasibility study to determine if the existing building could be adapted to accommodate the new equipment. The Austin Company was then selected to provide design, engineering and construction services for the project. |
